Welcome to NY!
You can go to any dance or dance studio's practice session, find a corner and practice amongst yourselves.
However, if you're looking for a private room to work on dancing, there are a number of rehearsal studios in the city that rent rooms by the hour. Be sure to request a sprung wood floor. There will also be a marginal extra charge for a radio/CD player for each room. Try these studios:
Ripley Grier, http://www.ripleygrier.com/
Champions Studios, http://www.championsstudios.moonfruit.com/
Chelsea Studios, http://www.theatreworksusa.org/chelsea.cfm
440 Studios, http://440studios.com/
There are others, but these are the one I know of off the top of my head. Ripley Grier is probably the largest of these studios, but probably slightly more expensive than the others.
